This is my first year I’m attempting NaNoWriMo, and I’ve spent most of the day angst-ing about it rather than preparing. I have a really hard time of telling my self-editor to keep quiet long enough for me to get a substantial amount of words on the page (hence, why this blog is so empty), so the idea of trying to write at least 1,667 words every day for the next month is more than a little daunting. But I need a new challenge, a kick in the pants to get me going and help me practice getting my inner critic to pipe down. It’s going to be tough, and I know I’m going to struggle, but I’m going to do it. I don’t know what I’m going to write about or what’s going to happen each day. All I know is that a month from now, I will have 50,000 words. This is my NaNo pledge. Help hold me to it.
